What is the PMJDY Scheme?
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana provides unbanked citizens access to basic savings accounts, direct benefit transfers (DBT), remittance facilities, credit, insurance, and pension services. Accounts can be opened at any bank branch or Bank Mitra (Business Correspondent) outlet with zero minimum balance requirement.

- Any Indian citizen without an existing bank account; minors aged 10 and above can also open an account with a guardian managing it.

- A zero-balance basic savings bank account; an overdraft facility of up to ₹5,000 after the account remains active for 6 months; and access to linked schemes including Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
