How This Conversion Works

This tool uses the standard, exact conversion formulas between the three temperature scales — no approximations. Celsius to Fahrenheit is (°C × 9/5) + 32; Celsius to Kelvin is °C + 273.15; and the other directions are the algebraic inverse of these. Kelvin cannot go below 0 (absolute zero, −273.15°C) — if a value would produce a negative Kelvin reading, the tool shows an error instead of an impossible result.

FAQ

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The number you enter is never sent to our server.

What is absolute zero, and why does the tool reject some values?

Absolute zero (−273.15°C, −459.67°F, 0 K) is the coldest temperature theoretically possible — nothing can be colder. If you enter a value below this in any unit, the tool shows an error instead of a physically meaningless negative Kelvin reading.

Does this work with decimal values?

Yes. The value field accepts decimal numbers, and results are shown to several decimal places for precision.
