Search for a country to see its capital, region, currency, languages, calling code, population and neighboring countries. Country reference data is loaded from this site itself; population is fetched live from the World Bank only when you open a country’s details.
Your search term is not logged or stored — country reference data is loaded from this site itself, not a third party.
This tool sends your input directly from your browser to mledoze/countries (reference data) and the World Bank (population, fetched only when you open a country's details).

Where This Data Comes From
Capital, region, currency, languages, calling code, area, and neighboring-country information come from mledoze/countries, an open dataset (Open Data Commons Open Database License) that is downloaded and hosted on this site rather than fetched from a third party on every visit.
Population figures are fetched live, per country, from the World Bank’s open Indicators API (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0) — only for the country you actually select, not preloaded for every country.
Reference data such as area, currency, or languages can change (e.g. after a currency changeover or border change) and may not reflect the most recent update. Population figures reflect the most recent year the World Bank has reported, which is not necessarily the current year. Verify anything important against an authoritative source.
FAQ
Why is there no population shown for some countries?
A small number of countries or territories don’t have a recent population figure in the World Bank’s dataset — the tool shows this honestly rather than guessing a number.
Why isn’t a timezone shown for each country?
Neither data source this tool uses includes timezone information, and many countries span multiple timezones, so a single value would often be misleading. Use the Timezone Converter or World Clock for that.
Is this a complete encyclopedia of every country?
No — it covers the practical facts most people actually look up (capital, currency, population, languages, calling code, neighbors), not exhaustive historical or political detail.
