How This Tool Works
This tool fetches a page’s raw HTML from our server, then reads its title tag, meta description, robots directive, canonical URL, viewport tag, and charset. Title and description lengths are checked against commonly-cited guideline ranges (roughly 50-60 characters for titles, 150-160 for descriptions) — search engines don’t enforce a hard cutoff, but content beyond these ranges is more likely to be truncated in search results.
FAQ
Why does title/description length matter?
Search engines truncate long titles and descriptions in results pages — staying within the commonly-cited ranges helps your full message show up rather than getting cut off with “…”.
What does the robots directive control?
It tells search engine crawlers whether to index the page and follow its links (e.g. “noindex, nofollow” would exclude it from search results entirely). If not set, search engines default to indexing and following.
Do you store the URLs I check?
No — we do not log or store the URLs you check with this tool.
