How This Calculation Works

This calculator projects your NPS corpus by compounding your monthly contributions at the return rate you enter, then splits the resulting corpus according to NPS rules: at least 40% must go toward purchasing an annuity (which pays a regular pension), and up to 60% can be withdrawn as a lump sum. This tool does not estimate your resulting monthly pension amount, since that depends on the annuity rate an annuity service provider offers at the time you retire — a rate this calculator has no reliable way to predict.

This calculator performs a deterministic calculation based only on the numbers you enter — it does not provide financial, investment, or tax advice, and does not recommend any product, rate, or provider. Actual returns, interest, and terms depend on your specific bank, scheme, or fund, and can differ from this estimate.

FAQ

Why doesn’t this show my monthly pension amount?

The monthly pension depends on the annuity rate offered by an annuity provider at the time you retire, which varies and isn’t something this calculator can reliably predict — showing a specific number would mean inventing a rate with no real basis.

Is the 40%/60% split always exactly this?

It reflects the current standard NPS rule (minimum 40% annuity, up to 60% lump sum) — always confirm the applicable rule with the NPS Trust or your account provider, since retirement-scheme rules can change.
