Samagra Shiksha is an overarching integrated scheme for school education launched by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The program subsumed three major earlier schemes: Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), and Teacher Education (TE). It covers the entire school education continuum from pre-school to Class 12.
Rather than transferring direct cash benefits to individual students, Samagra Shiksha provides targeted funding to States and Union Territories (UTs) to strengthen school infrastructure, improve learning outcomes, enhance teacher training, and support inclusive education for disadvantaged groups.
