The e-Shram Portal Online is a national database initiative launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to create a centralised database of unorganised workers. Through the e-Shram Portal Online, registered informal sector workers receive a unique Universal Account Number (UAN) card that grants them seamless access to various central and state social security schemes.
Overview of e-Shram Portal Online
The main objective of the e-Shram Portal Online system is to ensure the social protection and welfare of unorganised workers, including migrant workers, street vendors, domestic help, construction workers, and agricultural labourers. Registrations on the portal allow the government to deliver targeted disaster relief, accident insurance, and social security benefits during crisis situations.
