What is National Pension System (NPS)?
National Pension System (NPS) is designed to provide income security during retirement to all Indian citizens. It allows subscribers to make regular contributions into their pension accounts during their working life, accumulate a compound retirement fund, and convert part of the savings into a regular monthly annuity payout after age 60.

- Indian citizens (including NRIs) aged 18-70; open to employees in government, private, and unorganised sectors (excluding active armed forces personnel, who have a separate scheme).
- Benefits
- A market-linked retirement corpus built through regular contributions, tax benefits on contributions under Section 80CCD, and portability across employers and locations; at retirement, part of the corpus is withdrawn and part is used to purchase an annuity for a monthly pension.

- Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank account details, passport-size photograph.
How to Apply

- Open an account online in about 30 minutes via the eNPS portal (enps.nsdl.com) using Aadhaar-based e-KYC, or through a bank/Point of Presence registered with PFRDA.
