What is the PMMVY Scheme?

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana provides direct cash assistance to pregnant women to meet nutritional requirements and partially compensate for wage loss during childbirth. The financial incentive is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligibility & Benefits

Eligibility
Indian citizen pregnant/lactating women aged 19 and above, for the first two living children (the second only if a girl child); women in regular employment with the Central/State Government or a PSU, or already receiving a similar benefit under another law, are not eligible.
Benefits
₹5,000 for the first child, paid in two instalments (after ante-natal check-up, and after childbirth plus immunisation); ₹6,000 for a second child who is a girl, paid in a single instalment.
Required documents
Aadhaar card, bank account passbook, Mother and Child Protection (MCP) card.
