How This Works
UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) represents a location as an easting/northing distance in meters within one of 60 numbered zones, rather than latitude/longitude — commonly used in surveying, engineering, and military/topographic mapping, where working in meters on a flat grid is more convenient than degrees. This tool uses the same accurate projection math as professional GIS software to convert both ways.
FAQ
How do I know which UTM zone my coordinate is in?
The “Lat/Lon → UTM” result shows the zone automatically. For the reverse direction, you need to already know (or be told) which zone your easting/northing belongs to — UTM coordinates alone don’t indicate the zone.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion happens entirely in your browser — nothing you enter here is sent to our server.
